Enoxaparin Sodium BP
CARDIOVASCULAR
INDICATION
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- In unstable angina (pre-MI)
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Prophylaxis
- Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) with or without Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Indication | Recommended dose |
Myocardial Infarction (MI) | A single IV bolus of 30 mg + a 1 mg/kg SC (usually 60 mg ) followed by 1 mg/kg SC every 12 hours at least 8 days (maximum 100 mg for the first two doses only, followed by 1 mg/kg dosing for the remaining doses) with aspirin (75 to 325 mg) |
In unstable angina (pre-MI) | 1 mg/kg (usually 60 mg ) SC injection every 12 hours at least 2 to 8 days (with aspirin 100 to 325 mg) |
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis | Abdominal Surgery: 40 mg SC injection once daily up to 12 days (initial dose given 2 hours prior to surgery) Knee Replacement Surgery: 30 mg SC injection every 12 hours up to 14 days. The initial dose should be given 12 to 24 hours after surgery. Hip Replacement Surgery: A dose of 40 mg once a day SC, given initially 12 (±3) hours prior to surgery & continued prophylaxis with Xaparin 40 mg SC Injection once a day up to 14 days. |
Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) with or without Pulmonary Embolism (PE) | 1 mg/kg (usually 60 mg ) SC injection every 12 hours up to 17 days with Warfarin |

COMPOSITION
Xaparin 40: Each Pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 4000 anti-Xa IU equivalent to 40 mg.
Xaparin 60: Each Pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 6000 anti-Xa IU equivalent to 60 mg.
