LM is a calcium channel blocker and may be used alone or inrncombination with other antihypertensive agents for the treatment of hypertension, tornlower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatalrncardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infractions.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Route ofrnadministration: Oral.

The usualrninitial antihypertensive oral dose of LM is 2.5 mg once daily, and the maximum dose is 5rnmg once daily. Small, fragile, or elderly patients, or patients with hepatic insufficiencyrnmay be started on 1.25 mg once daily and this dose may be used when adding LMrnto other antihypertensive therapy. Adjust dosage according to blood pressure goals. Inrngeneral, wait 7 to 14 days between titration steps.
