1. What Metazine MR is and what it is used for?
Metazine MR® is a preparation of Trimetazidine Hydrochloride. Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is a unique antianginal and anti-ischemic agent that exerts anti-ischemic effects without inducing hemodynamic changes and improves the status of ischemic myocardium. The drug exerts its antianginal effects through a direct cytoprotective action on the myocardium, thereby avoiding the side effects of impaired left ventricular function, excessive vasodilation and other disadvantages associated with the use of comparator antianginal agents. Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is indicated for Ischemic heart disease (angina pectoris, sequelae of infarction) Adjuvant symptomatic treatment of vertigo and tinnitus. Adjuvant treatment of the decline visual acuity and visual field disturbances, presumably of vascular origin.

2. Before you take Metazine MR
Do not take this medicine and tell your doctor if:

Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to Trimetazidine. Do not take this medicine if the above applies to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor before taking Metazine MR.

Taking other medicines
No drug interactions so far have been reported. In particular, no interactions have been reported with beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, nitrates, heparin, hypolipidemic agents or digitalis preparation.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Studies in animals have not demonstrated teratogenic effects. However, in the absence of clinical data and for safety reasons, prescription should be avoided during pregnancy. There is no information on the secretion of Trimetazidine Hydrochloride into breast milk. However, breast feeding should be discontinued if the use of Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is considered essential.

3. How to take Metazine MR?
One tablet at mealtimes in the morning and evening.

If you take more Metazine MR than you should
In humans, experience with intentional overdosage of Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is limited. If massive overdosage occurs, active cardiac and respiratory monitoring should be instituted.

If you forget to take Metazine MR
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking Metazine MR
Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor. You should not stop taking Metazine MR just because you feel better. This is because the problem may come back or get worse again.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Metazine MR can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Trimetazidine Hydrochloride is safe and well tolerated. The most common side effects encountered are gastric discomfort, nausea, headache and vertigo. However, the side effects are mild and non-specific.

Tell your doctor if any of the side effects gets serious or lasts longer than a few days, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet

5. How to store Metazine MR?
Keep in a cool & dry place. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
