What Fosamin® is and what it is used for?
The active ingredient of Fosamin® is Fosfomycin Trometamol, a broad spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic for oral administration.
It is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused following by bacterial strains- Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabillis and Klebsiella pneumonia.

How to take Fosamin®
The recommended dose for women of 18 years or older for Uncomplicated UTIs is one sachet of Fosamin® with or without food. This medicine should not be used in children.

Possible side effects
The most common adverse reactions reported in subjects receiving Fosfomycin were diarrhea, headache, vaginitis, nausea, rhinitis, back pain, dysmenorrhea, pharyngitis, dizziness, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, asthenia and rash.

Pregnancy and Lactation
This drug should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the risk.A decision should be made to discontinue breastfeeding or to not administer the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Warnings & Precaution
Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) has been reported with use of nearly all
antibacterial agents, including Fosfomycin. Do not use more than one single dose of Fosfomycin to treat a single episode of uncomplicated UTIs.

Store in a cool dry place, protected from light.
