INDICATION

Nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy, post-operative nausea and vomiting and nausea and vomiting associated with radiotherapy

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Tablet : Prevention of chemotherapy induced nausea & vomiting : Adult – 24 mg given as three 8 mg tablets in highly emetogenic chemotherapy. In case of moderately emetogenic chemotherapy the oral dose is one 8mg tablet or 10 ml of oral solution given twice daily.

Pediatric patients (4 through 11 years) : half of one 8mg tablet or 5ml oral solution should be administered 3 times a day for 1 to 2 days after completion of chemotherapy. Radiotherapy induced nausea and vomiting : Adult – 8 mg tablet or 10 ml of oral solution given 3 times daily. Post operative nausea & vomiting : Adult- the recommended dosage is 16 mg given as two 8mg tablets or 20 ml of oral solution 1 hour before induction of anesthesia. Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired hepatic function- The total daily dose of 8 mg should not be exceeded.

COMPOSITION

Tablet : Ondansetron HCl USP 8 mg.

Injection (4 ml): Ondansetron HCl USP 2 mg / ml. 

Oral Solution (50 ml) : Ondansetron HCl USP 4 mg / 5 ml.
