Dosage Form: Cream
TG Name: Analgesics & Antipyretic

NOMOS is a 12.5% w/w cream formulation of IR3535. The active ingredient, IR3535 is a technical grade synthetic biochemical pesticide that is produced by an integrated process. It is a substituted B amino acid structurally similar to naturally occurring B-alanine. The active ingredient is used as an insect repellent against mosquitoes, deer ticks, body lice, and biting flies. Nomos can only be applied to exposed human skin. No harmful effects to humans or the environment are expected from this use of 3-[N-Butyl-N-acetyl] aminopropionic acid (IR3535).

Nomos works by reducing odor volatility as IR3535 functions to “mask” the ability of volatile odorants on the skin to activate olfactory neurons and attract mosquitoes.

IR3535 has been used as an insect repellent in Europe for 30 years with no substantial adverse effects. Toxicity tests show that the IR3535 is not harmful when ingested, inhaled, or used on skin. Eye irritation could occur if the chemical enters a person’s eyes. Any allergic reactions are required to be reported.
