Therapeutic Group : Bronchodilator & Antitussive

Presentation:

Nexol Syrup: Each 5 ml syrup contains Ambroxol hydrochloride BP 15 mg.
Nexol Paediatric Drops: Each ml pediatric drop contains Ambroxol hydrochloride BP 6 mg.

Indications:

Productive cough, Acute and chronic inflammatory disorders of upper and lower respiratory tracts associated with viscid mucus including acute and chronic bronchitis, Inflammatory disease of rhinopharyngeal tract (Laryngitis, Phryngitis, sinusitis and rhinitis) associated with viscid mucus, Asthmatic bronchitis, bronchial asthma with thick expectoration, Bronchiectasis, Chronic pneumonia.

Dosage & Administration:

Average daily dose (preferably after meal):
Nexol Paediatric Drops:
0 – 6 months old : 0.5 ml twice daily
6 – 12 months old : 1 ml twice daily
1 – 2 years old : 1.25 ml twice daily
Nexol Syrup:
2 -5 years old : 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoonful) 2-3 times daily
5 – 10 years old : 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 2-3 times daily
10 years old and adults: 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) 3 times daily

Contrainidications:

Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or Bromhexine.

Warning & Precautions:

Ambroxol should be given cautiously to patients with gastric and duodenal ulceration or convulsive disorders. Caution should be taken in Patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency.

Drug interaction:

Ambroxol should not be taken simultaneously with antitussives like Codeine because phlegm, which has been liquefied by Ambroxol might not be expectorated.

Use in special groups:

Use in Pregnancy :
Although no evidence has been obtained (even at high dosage levels) of teratological activity administration is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Use in Lactation :
Safety during lactation has not yet been established.

Nexol Syrup: Bottle contains 100 ml syrup.
Nexol Paediatric Drops: Bottle contains 15 ml pediatric drops
