A-Mycin Lotion (Erythromycin)

Indications

For topical treatment of acne, pimples & bacterial skin infections susceptible to erythromycin.

Dosage & Administration

1. Apply to the affected areas in the morning and evening. 2. Before applying thoroughly wash with warm water and soap, rinse and pat dry all areas to be treated. 3. Apply with applicator. 4. Wash hands after use.

Side effects

Erythema, desquamation, burning sensation, eye irritation, tenderness, dryness, oily skin etc.

Use in special groups

Use during pregnancy: Safety for use during pregnancy has not been established. Use only when potential benefits outweigh potential hazards to the foetus.
Use during lactation: Erythromycin is excreted in breast milk. Exercise caution when administered to a nursing mother.
Use in children: Safety and efficacy in children less than 12 years of age have not been established

Description

Erythromycin is a bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotic, but may be bactericidal in high concentrations. Although the mechanism by which topical erythromycin acts in reducing inflammatory lessions of Acne vulgaris is unknown, it is presummable due to its antibiotic action.
