Etopride
GASTROPROKINETICS: Itopride Hydrochloride
Indication
Etopride is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms in chronic gastritis (feeling of enlarged abdomen, upper abdominal pain, anorexia, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting).
Contraindication
Itopride hydrochloride is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Itopride hydrochloride or any of the excipients. Itopride hydrochloride should not be used in patients in whom an increase in gastrointestinal motility could be harmful, e.g.: gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
Dosage & Administration
The usual adult dosage for oral use is 50 mg of Etopride three times daily before meal. The dose may be reduced according to the patient’s age and symptoms.
Etopride (Itopride) has to be taken before meal.
Side Effect
Diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, constipation.
Drug Interaction
Anti-ulcer drugs like Cimetidine, Ranitidine, Teprenone, and Cetraxate do not affect the prokinetic action of Itopride. Anticholinergic drugs may reduce the action of Itopride.
Use Children
Safety of Itopride in children under the age of 16 years has not been established.
Use Pregnancy Lactation
Itopride can be used in pregnant women or in women who may possibly be pregnant only if the expected therapeutic benefits outweigh the possible risks associated with treatment. It is ideal not to use Itopride for mother during lactation, but if it is necessary, breastfeeding should be avoided during the treatment of Itopride.

Etopride 50 Tablet: Each box contains 6 x 10’s tablets in blister pack.
Storage
Store below 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
