1. What is Becoral® D/DX?
Becoral® D (Coral Calcium 500mg and Vitamin D3 200IU) is a combined preparation of Coral Calcium and Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol) specially designed to strengthen bone.
Becoral® DX (Coral Calcium 600mg and Vitamin D3 400IU) is higher strength of Becoral® D is specially designed to prevent fracture.
2. How Becoral® works in our body
Becoral® D/DX provides Calcium and Vitamin D3 where Calcium Carbonate is sourced from coral origin. The Calcium Carbonate from Coral has a chemical structure that is very similar to the composition of human bone. Coral Calcium is similar to other sources but ensures better absorption. Vitamin D3 aids in the absorption of Calcium from GI tract and helps to maintain Calcium balance in the body.
3. What is the indication of Becoral® D/DX?
Becoral® D/DX is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who do not get enough calcium from their diets. It may be used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (hypoparathyroidism), and a certain muscle disease (latent tetany). It may also be used in certain patients to make sure they are getting enough calcium (e.g., women who are pregnant, nursing, or postmenopausal, people taking certain medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, or prednisone).
4. What are the dosage & administration of Becoral® D/DX?
Becoral® One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician. Taking in full stomach ensures better absorption.
5. What are the contraindications of Becoral® D/DX?
Hypersensitivity to any of the components, hypocalcaemia resulting from overdose of Vitamin D, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, renal calculi etc.
6. What are the side effects of Becoral® D/DX?
Flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation, upper GI discomfort etc. are rare manifestation. Hypercalcaemia due to prolong use has rarely been reported.
7. What would be the storage condition of Becoral® D/DX?
Keep in a dry place, below 30° C. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
