1. What is Pulmidone®?
Pulmidone® is a preparation of pirfenidone, which is anti-fibrotic agent. It prevents further fibrosis due to alveoli damage of the lung.
2. How Pulmidone® works in our body?
Pulmidone® prevents further lung fibrosis by inhibiting production of fibrogenic molecules ( TNF-α, TGF-β, IL-6, T & B cell). Thereby, Pulmidone® increases patients life expectancy.
3. What are the indications of Pulmidone®?
Pulmidone® (Pirfenidone), is indicated for treatment of mild to moderate Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
4. What is the dosage & administration of Pulmidone®?
Starting dose of Pulmidone® is 267 mg tablet 3 times daily for 7 days. From day 8 onward 2 tablets of 267 mg 3 times daily, total of 6 tablets per day. Then day 15 onward 801 mg tablet 3 times daily.
5. What are the contraindications of Pulmidone®?
Contraindication of Pirfenidone haven’t been found yet.
6. What are the adverse effects of Pulmidone®?
Tiredness, lack of energy, loss of appetite, weight loss, or changes in taste may occur. Dizziness, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, or heartburn may also occur but taking pirfenidone with food may lessen these side effects. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor promptly.
7. What would be the storage condition of Pulmidone®?
Do not store above 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep in a dry place. Protect from light & keep out of the reach of children.
