1. What is PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
PROGAVI® Oral Suspension is the combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate (Sodium alginate). The composition of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension is Sodium alginate BP 500 mg, Sodium bicarbonate BP 213 mg, Calcium carbonate BP 325 mg per 10 ml.
2. How PROGAVI® Oral Suspension works in our body?
PROGAVI® Oral Suspension works in two ways:
- Neutralizing excess stomach acid to relieve the pain & discomfort.
- Forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to soothe the burning pain in your chest.
3. What are the indications of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
Treatment of symptoms resulting from the reflux of acid, bile and pepsin into the esophagus such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion, for example following meals or during pregnancy, and for symptoms of excess stomach acid (hyperacidity).
4. What are the dosage & administration of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
- Adults and children 12 years &above: 10-20 ml after meals and at bed time, up to four times per day.
- Children under 12 years: Should be given only on medical advice.
- Elderly: No dose modifications necessary for this age group.
5. What are the contraindications of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
Hypersensitivity to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, the esters of hydroxybenzoates (parabens) or to any of the excipients that used in suspension formulation. This product should not be used in patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency.
6. What are the adverse effects of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
Some common adverse effects are alkalosis, acid rebound, hypercalcemia, milk-alkali syndrome & constipation which usually occurs following larger the recommended dosages.
7. What would be the storage condition of PROGAVI® Oral Suspension?
Do not store above 30℃. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep in a dry place. Protect from light & keep out of the reach of children.
