Jardimet® XR is the preparation of Empagliflozin (a selective SGLT2 inhibitor) and Metformin HCl (a Biguanide class of drug) in Extended-release formulation.

Jardimet® XR is the preparation of Empagliflozin (a selective SGLT2 inhibitor) and Metformin HCl (a Biguanide class of drug) in Extended-release formulation. Empagliflozin works by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) found in the proximal tubules in the kidneys. Through SGLT2 inhibition, empagliflozin reduces renal reabsorption of glucose and increases urinary excretion of glucose. On the other hand, Metformin lowers blood glucose levels by inhibiting gluconeogenesis (metabolic pathway that results in the generation of glucose) and increasing glucose uptake.

Jardimet® XR can be used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Jardimet® XR is the preparation of Empagliflozin and Metformin in Extended-release formulation and it should be taken orally once daily with a meal in the morning.
5. What are the contraindications of Jardimet® XR Tablet?
Jardimet® XR is contraindicated in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment (eGFR less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m2), end stage renal disease, or dialysis.

Ketoacidosis (increased ketones in your blood or urine), nausea, vomiting, stomach-area (abdominal) pain, tiredness, dehydration.
