ANTIULCERANTS: Magaldrate & Simethicone

Indication

Novelta is indicated in hyperacidity, gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastritis, heartburn, dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux. Novelta is also indicated for the relief of flatulence, abdominal distention and windy colic.

Preparation

Novelta Chewable Tablet : Each chewable tablet contains Magaldrate USP 480 mg and Simethicone USP 20 mg.
Novelta 100 ml Suspension : Each 5 ml suspension contains Magaldrate USP 480 mg and Simethicone USP 20 mg.
Novelta 200 ml Suspension : Each 5 ml suspension contains Magaldrate USP 480 mg and Simethicone USP 20 mg.

Contraindication

Magaldrate is contraindicated in patient with known hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium. It is also contraindicated in patient with impaired renal function.

Dosage & Administration

Novelta Chewable Tablet: 1-4 tablets, 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by the physician. Novelta Suspension: 2-4 teaspoonful (10 to 20 ml), 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by the physician.

Side Effect

Mild constipation may occur in a small percentage of patients.

Drug Interaction

It should not be used in patients who are taking Tetracycline. The drug may cause reduced bio-availability or slower absorption of a no of drugs including propranolol, isoniazid prednisolone and Naproxen

Novelta Chewable Tablet: Each blister box contains 10×10\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s tablet.
Novelta  100 ml Suspension: Each amber glass bottle contains 100 ml suspension.
Novelta  200 ml Suspension: Each PET bottle contains 200 ml suspension.
