Milk of Magnesia Suspension
LAXATIVES: Magnesium Hydroxide
Indication
Constipation, heart-burn, gas and nausea.
Acute & chronic constipation due to hyperacidity and peptic ulcer.
Contraindication
Do not use where use of laxative is contraindicated; acute gastro-intestinal conditions; renal failure (risk of magnesium accumulation).
Dosage & Administration
As a laxative-
Adult : 2-6 teaspoonful followed by a glass of water.
Children: 1-3 teaspoonful with water or as directed by physician
As an antacid-
Adult : 1-3 teaspoonful 3-4 times daily
Children: ½-1 teaspoonful
Side Effect
Diarrhea, abdominal colic.
Precaution
Hepatic impairment elderly and debilitated; heart block, myocardial disease; pregnancy.
Before taking magnesium hydroxide, talk to your doctor if you are taking
a tetracycline antibiotic such as tetracycline , demeclocycline , doxycycline , minocycline or oxytetracycline
a fluoroquinolone antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin , ofloxacin , enoxacin , norfloxacin , sparfloxacin , levofloxacin , lomefloxacin , grepafloxacin and others
penicillamine
digoxin or
nitrofurantoin

Each bottle contains 100 ml Milk of Magnesia in amber glass bottle.
