Maxical -DX
VITAMINS & MINERALS: Calcium 600 mg, Vitamin D3 400 IU, Cholecalciferol USP
Indication
Maxical -DX is indicated for the correction of Calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency in the elderly and as an adjunct to specific treatment for osteoporosis in patients where combined vitamin D3 and calcium deficiencies have been diagnosed or at a high risk of such deficiencies.
Contraindication
– Hypersensitivity to calcium and Cholecalciferol
-Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis)
– Severe renal impairment or renal failure
– Hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia
– Hypervitaminosis
Dosage & Administration
Adults and elderly: One tablet twice a day preferably one tablet each morning and one at evening with a full glass of water.
Dosage in pregnant women: One tablet a day.
Side Effect
It includes allergic reaction, nausea, dizziness, anorexia and dryness of mouth. Hypercalciuria and in rare cases hypercalcaemia have been seen with long term treatment at high doses.
Precaution
– These tablets are not intended for children and adolescents.
– Patients with mild to moderate renal impairment or mild hypercalciuria should be supervised carefully.
– With long-term treatment it is advisable to monitor serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function through measurement of serum creatinine and reduce or stop treatment temporarily if urinary calcium exceeds 7.5 mmol/24 hours.
– The product should be used with caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis due to the increased risk of hypercalcaemia.
Drug Interaction
Thiazide Diuretics, Phenytoin, Barbiturates, Glucocorticoids, Digitalis and other Cardiac glycosides are not indicated with Calcium and Vitamin D3. Calcium salts may reduce the absorption of Thyroxin, Sodium fluoride, Quinolone or Tetracycline antibiotics or Iron. It is advisable to allow a minimum period of 3 hours taking the Calcium products.

Maxical -DX tablet: Each box containing 7X4’s tablets in Alu-Alu blister pack.

Use Pregnancy Lactation
This combination can be used during pregnancy, in case of the calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency. This combination can be used during breast-feeding. Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk. This should be considered when given additional vitamin D3 to the child.
