Cozopt (Dorzolamide Hydrochloride)
Description
Cozopt Sterile eye drops is comprised of two components: Dorzolamide & Timolol Maleate. Dorzolamide Inhibits carbonic anhydrase-II lowers Aqueous humor production as well as provides Neuroprotection. Timolol Maleate Blocks beta receptors of ciliary body and Reduces aqueous humor production. Dorzolamide/Timolol fixed-dose combination provides great IOP reduction from baseline & gives rapid onset of action.
Presentation
Cozopt Sterile Eye Drops: Each ml contains Dorzolamide Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Dorzolamide 20 mg and Timolol Maleate BP equivalent to Timolol 5 mg.
Indications
Cozopt Sterile Eye Drops is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to topical beta blockers.
Dosage & Administration
Instill one drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) twice daily.
Contrainidications
Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any of the components of this preparation.
Warning & Precautions
For ophthalmic use only. Patients should remove their contact lenses prior to instilling this preparation and should not insert their lenses until 15 minutes after instillation of the preparation.
Side effects
Mild burning, ocular hyperemia, blurred vision may occur.
Drug interaction
Use in special groups
Use in pregnancy: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Cozopt should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Use in lactation: Caution should be exercised when Cozopt is administered to a nursing mother.
Use in children: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years have not been established.
Use in elderly patients: No overall differences in safety and effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.
