Olpadin & Olpadin DS (Olopatadine)

Presentation:
Olpadin Sterile Eye Drops: Each ml contains Olopatadine Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Olopatadine 1 mg.
Olpadin DS Sterile Eye Drops: Each ml contains Olopatadine Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Olopatadine 2 mg.
Pharmacology:
Olopatadine selectively blocks histamine H1 receptor and stabilizes mast cells. Thus, it prevents histamine binding to its receptors and inhibits mast cell degranulation & histamine release.
Indications:
Olpadin & Olpadin DS are indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of allergic conditions of the anterior segment of the eye.
Dosage & Administration:
Olpadin Sterile Eye Drops: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.
Olpadin DS Sterile Eye Drops: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily.
Contrainidications:
Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to Olopatadine Hydrochloride or any other component of the preparation.
Warning & Precautions:
For ophthalmic use only. Instillation of eye drops may cause transient blurring of vision. Caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery if blurred vision is experienced.
Side effects:
Headache, blurred vision, burning or stinging, cold syndrome, foreign body sensation, hyperaemia, nausea and pharyngitis.
Drug interaction:
Olopatadine has low drug interaction potential as systemic levels of Olopatadine achieved after ocular dosing are negligible.
Use in special groups:
Use in pregnancy: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Olopatadine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Use in lactation: It is not known whether Olopatadine passes into breast milk. However, caution should be exercised when Olopatadine is administered to a nursing mother.

Olpadin Sterile Eye Drops: Each plastic dropper bottle contains 5ml sterile eye drops.
Olpadin DS Sterile Eye Drops: Each plastic dropper bottle contains 5 ml sterile eye drops.
