Emonium^® injection is a preparation of Tiemonium Methylsulfate. It is an antispasmodic drug. It reduces muscle spasms of the intestine, biliary system, bladder and uterus. It stabilizes the cell membrane by reinforcing the binding of calcium with membrane phospholipids. The result is the inhibition of the release of calcium from membrane & blocks intracytoplasmic influx of calcium. Thus Emonium^® inhibits the contraction of smooth muscle and relieves pain. Emonium^® also competitively antagonizes the action of acetylcholine & histamine H1 and reduces the muscle contraction. It is indicated for pain in gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary and gynaecological diseases such as dysmenorrheal, gastroenteritis, diarrhea, dysentery, biliary colic, enterocolitis, abdominal pain, cholecystitis, colonopathies, mild cystitis etc.
