Tolfenamic Acid is a member of the anthranilic acid derivatives (or fenamate) class of (NSAIDs) drugs. Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) and cyclo-oxygenase inhibitor. It is used for the management of both acute and chronic pain in animals. The pharmacologic effects of Tolfenamic Acid are similar to those of aspirin. It inhibits prostaglandin release and has a direct inhibitory effect on prostaglandin receptors. It also decreases platelet aggregation. Tolfenamic acid is well-absorbed. It is generally used as a once a day and peak levels occurring at two to four hours after administration.
