Obscare Cream: Contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate solution BP 5% v/w (equivalent to Chlorhexidine Gluconate 1% w/w).
Description
Pharmacology
Chlorhexidine has a wide range of antimicrobial activity. Chlorhexidine is effective against a wide range of Gram negative and Gram positive vegetative bacteria, yeasts,
dermatophyte fungi and lipophilic viruses
Indications
It is used as an antiseptic cream and lubricant by healthcare professionals when examining women during pregnancy or for gynaecological problems
Dosage & Administration
For use on the skin or vagina only.
Some of the product should be spread onto the gloved hand of doctor, midwife or examiner and some should be applied around the birth canal and to the skin around the perineum of the patient. Shake the bottle well before each use.
Side Effects
Some irritation of the skin or allergic (itchy) reactions may occur when it is first applied.
Allergic reactions like sudden wheeziness, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the eyelids,
face or lips, rash or itching may occur.
Precautions
Avoid application to the ears and eyes, and any deep cuts involving the head or spine.
Washing out with water may be required if necessary. Avoid contact with the brain and meninges.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

Drug Interaction
If the drug is mixed with soap or detergents, its effectiveness may be reduced.
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with soap and other anionic agents
Over Dose
If the product is swallowed, it should be treated symptomatically and with gastric lavage
using milk, raw egg, gelatin or mild soap
Storage
Do not store above 30 â°C. Keep away from light & out of the reach of children.
