Presentation
Bovixon Vet 1 gm IM Injection: Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 1 gm (as sterile Ceftriaxone Sodium USP).
Bovixon Vet 2 gm IM Injection: Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 2 gm (as sterile Ceftriaxone Sodium USP).
Description
Bovixon vet Injection is a sterile, broad-spectrum, 3rd generation cephalosporin antibiotic for intramuscular and intravenous administration. The bactericidal activity of Ceftriaxone results from inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Ceftriaxone has a high degree of stability in the presence of penicillinases and cephalosporinases of gram-negative and grampositivebacteria.
Indications
Bovixon vet injection is indicated for the treatment of following wide variety of infections caused by sensitive gram-positive and gram-negative and anaerobic organisms.
• Respiratory tract infections (Broncho-pneumonia, Pneumonia)
• Mammary gland infections (Mastitis)
• Uro-genital tract infections (Metritis, Pyometra, Nephritis, Cystitis)
• Gastrointestinal infections (Calf scours, enteritis, diarrhea)
• Skin and soft tissue infections (external wound, abscess etc)
• Bone and joint infections (Arthritis)
• Otitis (externa, media, interna)
Bovixon Vet injection is effective for the treatment of actinobacillosis, actinomycosis, hemorrhagic septicemia, black quarter, anthrax, foot rot, dermatophilosis, infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBKC), salmonellosis, brucellosis, enterotoxaemia, meningitis etc. and to prevent post-operative infections. It is also used to prevent secondary bacterial infections followed by viral infections such as foot and mouth disease, (FMD) ephemeral fever, PPR etc.
Dosage & Administration
For deep Intramuscular and slow intravenous injection only.
Cattle/Buffalo: 1 gm/100 kg body weight (10 mg/kg body weight) once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Calves/Buffalo calves: 0.5 gm/50 kg body (10 mg/kg body weight) once/twice daily for 3-5 days.
Goat/Sheep: 0.5 gm/25 kg body (20 mg/kg body weight) twice daily for 3-5 days.
Horse: 1 gm/40 kg body (25 mg/kg body weight) twice daily for 3-5 days
Dog/Cat: 0.5 gm/20 kg body (25 mg/kg body weight) once/twice daily for 3-5 days
Zoo animal: 1 gm/100 kg body weight (10 mg/kg body weight) daily for 3-5 days Or as directed by registered Veterinarian
Side Effects
Ceftriaxone is generally well tolerated. Hypersensitive reactions (acute anaphylaxis or angioedema, allergic agranulocytosis, fever, serum sickness, urticaria, diarrhea, thromobocytosis etc) may occur in some cases.
Precautions
Do not administer 1% Lidociane dissolved injection in IV route. Do not administer waterfor injection dissolved injection in IM route. If any particle is visible in vial after dissolving the contents, please do not use.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Bovixon vet injection can be used safely during pregnancy. Low concentration of Ceftriaxone is excreted through milk, caution should be exercised when Ceftriaxone is administered to a lactating animal. However, risk and necessity should be considered during administration in pregnancy.
Over Dose
There is no specific antidote. Treatment of overdose should be symptomatic.
Withdrawal Period

Do not store above 30 â°C. Keep away from light and out of the reach of children.
