Presentation
Tinabil tablet: Each tablet contains Bilastine INN 20 mg.
Description
Bilastine is non-sedating, long-acting histamine antagonist. Its effects are mediated via selective inhibition of peripheral H1-receptors. It shows moderate to high affinity for histamine H1-receptors and no affinity for muscarinic, serotonergic, dopaminergic and noradrenergic receptors. Bilastine inhibit histamine-induced flare skin reactions for 24 hours following single doses.
Indications
Bilastine is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhino-conjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial), allergic rhinitis and urticaria.
Dosage & Administration
Adults and adolescents (12 years of age and over):
Tinabil 20mg tablet (1 tablet) once daily for the relief of symptoms of allergic rhino conjunctivitis, urticaria and allergic rhinitis. The maximum recommended daily dose is 20mg and should not be exceeded. The tablet should be taken one hour before or two hours after intake of food or fruit juice.
Side Effects
The most common side effects associated with Bilastine is headache, dizziness and fatigue.
Precautions
The safety and efficacy of Bilastine in children under 12 years of age have not been established.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Until such data become available, Bilastine should be avoided during pregnancy, unless advised otherwise by a physician.
Drug Interaction
No clinically important drug interactions have been reported.
Over Dose
No serious adverse events have been reported in case of over dosage. However, in the event of overdosage, symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended.
Storage
Do not store above 30 â—¦C. Keep away from light and out of the reach of children.
