Flunixin Vet Injection
Flunixin Meglumine BP
Composition:
Each ml contains Flunixin Meglumine BP 50mg
Indication:
Cattle, Sheep, Goat: To control inflammation & pyrexia associated with Mastitis, Metritis, Pneumonia & Endotoxemia (Septicemia).
Horses: For alleviation of inflammation & pain associated with Musculo-skeletal disorders. Control of visceral pain associated with colic.
Dosage & Administration:
Cattle, Sheep, Goat:
1 to 2 ml Flunixin per 45 kg body weight (1.1 to 2.2 mg Flunixin per kg body weight) given by IM/IV route (Slowly) upto 3-5 days.
Horse:
1 ml Flunixin per 45 kg body weight (1.1 mg Flunixin per kg body weight) given by slow IV route (Slowly) upto 3-5 days.
Dogs:
0.5-2.2 mg per kg body weight by IV route (Slowly) once daily.
Cats:
1mg per kg body weight by IV route (Slowly) every 24 hrs.
Or, as prescribed by the Registered Veterinary Doctor.
Contraindication:
Cattle:
There are no known contraindications to this drug in cattle when used as directed. Do not use in animals showing hypersensitivity to flunixin meglumine. Use judiciously when renal impairment or gastric ulceration is suspected. Delay parturition through a tocolytic effect. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Horse:
There are no known contraindications to this drug when used as directed. Intra-arterial injection should be avoided. Do not use in horses showing hypersensitivity to flunixin meglumine.
Used in pregnancy:
No adverse effect found on fetus during pregnancy.
Side effects:
The most common side effects include gastrointestinal ulceration; rare side effects include kidney damage and bleeding disorders as well as allergic reactions.
Withdrawal Time:
Meat: Cattle: 4 days, Equine: 28 days & Milk: 24 hours.
Storage:
Protect from light, store in a cool & dry place and keep out of reach of children.
