Pheniramine Maleate

For Veterinary use only

Composition:

Each ml contains pheniramine Maleate BP 22.75 mg.

Indication:

Allergy of any origin, itching due to eczema, dermatitis, urticarial, skin oedema, insect bites, photodermatitis, rhinitis, tail eczema in horses, stomatitis, inflammation of the hooves of cattle, paresis during pregnancy, serum shock puerperal toxemia, retention of placenta, pulmonary oedema in cattle and pulmonary emphysema in horses.

The efficiency of BenHista has also been demonstrated in drug allergies, anaphylactic shock, laminitis, bloat in ruminants due to histamine atony of the rumen, treatment of acute septic metritis and mastitis in cows.

Dosages & Administration:

This injection is administered by IM & IV route. Onset of action is quick following IV administration and acts within 10-20 minutes after IM administration. The drug can be administered 2-3 times daily, depending on the severity of the disease.

Cattle, Buffalo & Horse: 5-10 ml per day.

Goat & Sheep: 0.5-1 ml per day.

Or as prescribed by the registered veterinary doctor.

Contraindication:

Pheniramine Maleate is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to active ingredients.

Side- Effects:

In therapeutic doses, slight insomnia, and drowsiness may develop & may feel fatigue.  BenHista vet Injection may be irritant and transient hypotension or simulation of the CNS.

Use in Pregnancy & lactation:  

Safety for the use of Pheniramine Maleate during pregnancy has not been established. It should only be used when clearly needed and the potential benefit outweighs the potential unknown risks to the fetus. A small amount of antihistamines are excreted in milk. Use during lactation is not recommended.

Withdrawal period:

  • Meet: 7 days
  • Milk: 2 days.

Storage:

Store in a cool and dry place, and protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.

Presentation:

10 ml & 100 ml vial.
