Ursodeoxycholic Acid

GASTROINTESTINAL » BILE ACIDS

INDICATION

Dissolution of small to medium sized radiolucent, cholesterol rich gallstones in functioning gallbladder, prevention of gallstone formation in obese patients experiencing rapid weight loss, primary biliary cirrhosis.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Dissolution of gallstones : 8 – 12 mg/kg body weight daily as a single dose at bedtime or in two divided doses, for up to 2 years; treatment should be continued for 3 – 4 months after stones dissolve. Prevention of gallstone formation : 300 mg twice daily. Primary biliary cirrhoisis: 10 – 15 mg / kg body weight daily in 2 – 4 divided doses.

Uliv ® 300 : Ursodeoxycholic acid BP 300 mg.
